Momentum is a habit and mood tracker built to work entirely on your device. This policy explains what the app stores, where it lives, and what control you have over it — in plain language, because that's the only kind worth writing.
The short version
Momentum doesn't have a server. There's no account, no sign-in, and nothing you log ever leaves your phone unless you explicitly export or back it up yourself. We can't see your data because we never receive it.
What Momentum stores
To do its job, Momentum keeps a local database on your device containing:
- The habits you create — names, icons, and colors you choose
- Your daily habit completion history
- Your daily mood and energy ratings
- Your reminder time preference, if you set one
This data is stored using Android's local Room database and DataStore. None of it is transmitted to Momentum, its developer, or any third party.
Notifications
If you enable a daily reminder, it's scheduled locally on your device using Android's WorkManager. No push notification service or external server is involved — your phone reminds you, directly.
What Momentum does not do
- No account creation or sign-in is required or offered
- No analytics or tracking SDKs are included in the app
- No advertising or ad networks are included in the app
- Your habit and mood data is never sold, shared, or transmitted anywhere
Your control over your data
Because everything lives on your device:
- Deleting a habit removes its history from the app
- Uninstalling Momentum permanently deletes all locally stored data, since nothing is backed up externally
- There is currently no cloud sync — if you'd like a backup before uninstalling or switching devices, do so through Android's own backup tools
Permissions Momentum requests
Momentum asks for the minimum Android permissions needed to function:
- Notifications — only if you turn on a daily reminder
- Exact alarms — to fire that reminder at the time you chose, even if the app hasn't been opened recently
Momentum does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone, or files.
Children's privacy
Momentum is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since the app has no server, no information is transmitted or collected from any user, regardless of age.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example, if a future version adds optional cloud backup — this page will be updated with a new date at the top, and any material change affecting how data is handled will be reflected here before it takes effect.
